Just a couple of blocks from where I lived from 1999-2001 is an abandoned egg ranch. It is in an upper end neighborhood and had been there for many decades, far before the upscale homes started being built. Eventually the upscale neighbors forced the egg ranch to close. The owner simply lets the property sit and deteriorate, probably to upset all the neighbors. I’m not sure which is worse, a working egg ranch or an abandoned egg ranch.
At one point the egg ranch owner got so frustrated with people moving into the neighborhood and complaining that he put up huge signs visible from all roads, the ultimate in real estate disclosure. Here’s one of them:
The property is fenced well so that neighborhood children cannot get in, but that also keeps us photographers out…. unless we have a good telephoto lens:
