….and there are no clothes involved, call me.

I regularly help my Clients work through cost issues related to renovation, remodeling, and repair. Unfortunately, there are bad apples in every profession, and some of them want to take advantage of YOU!

The best thing to do when you are hiring people to work for you is to investigate them thoroughly, even me, your home inspector.

I always recommend that if the people you are considering hiring don’t come with a glowing referral from someone you trust with your life or your money, call around and get three quotes for the work you want done. Then pretend that you are at the Olympics and throw out the high quote and the low quote. That middle quote should give you great products and great services at reasonable prices.

Even then, though, understand that otherwise great professionals sometimes have a bad day — death, injury, or illness in the immediate family, Padres or Chargers lost again (that should be expected at this point, though), major appliance gave out and the repair bill is twice as high as was expected…..

If you think your professional had a bad day, call him or her and discuss why you think that. If s/he is back to normal, s/he won’t have any problem discussing the issues.
